Despite the relatively hefty annual fee of $695, this card has earned a spot in my wallet for almost a decade thanks to its abundant travel benefits, consumer and travel credits, and purchase and travel protections, all of which I value at well over $1,200. The benefits on this card can easily outweigh its annual fee if used properly. However, this card is not a great points-earner when it comes to everyday spending. The 5x multiplier is limited to only flights booked directly with airlines and hotels booked directly with amextravel.com. Since I occasionally fly Delta, occasionally stay at Marriott hotels, and book hotel stays with amextravel.com, having this card in my arsenal makes sense for me.
